Gas Natural Foundation participates in the 4th International Conference of the European Society for the History of Science
On November 18-20, held in Barcelona, organized by the Societat Catalana d'Història de la Ciència i of Technology, a subsidiary of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, the 4th International Conference of the European Society for the History of Science that brought about five hundred researchers from around the world to analyze the movement of ideas, the use of instruments, maintaining records, books and illustrations, as well as the influence in the transmission of knowledge throughout the centuries, the trips made by scientists, technicians and researchers.

The conference is organized in thematic symposia and Natural Gas Foundation participated in the
called the Scientific and Technological Evolution of the Gas Industry held over Friday 19 November in the magnificent Gothic hall of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of the old Hospital de la Santa Creu. The symposium focused on five themes:


1 - The internal evolution of gas from production to distribution technology.
2 - The Development of gas networks from the Technical and geographical standpoints and of comparision with Other Networks of energy and communication. Attention will Also Be Given to the rationale for the Different networks (electricity, railways, etc.).
3 - The evolution of gas from gas lighting Applications, Applications domestic, industrial and thermal heating and Applications to current process of Cogeneration.
4 - The Economic repercusions of the introduction of Gas Installations in Different European towns.
5 - The conservation of the heritage of the gas industry in Its Time That establishi an important Technical Innovation

The speakers and their presentations were:

Andrea Giuntini, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy) presented a paper entitled "Searching for a Pattern in the History of Gas in Italy from 19th Century First Experiences Until the Big Multiutilities of Nowadays"

Serge Paquier University of Saint-Etienne (Switzerland), "Switzerland at the Heart of European Technological Circulatios in Gas Lighting in the 19th Century."

 Ana Cardoso de Matos, University of Évora (Portugal), "Urban Networks of Gas and Electricity in Portugal: Competition and Collaboration (1850-1920)

Francesc X. Barca Salom and Manubens Alayo Joan Carles Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, "The adoption of New Technologies by Spanish Gasworks.

Williot Jean-Pierre François Rabelais University (France), "The Development of Cooking with Gas: Scientific, Technical and Commercial Factors in France, 19th-20th Centuries"

Maria Marín Gelabert, coordinator of the Museum of Gas Natural Gas Foundation presented "The Gas Natural Foundation's Museum of Gas. The only Centre in Spain Devoted to Preserving, Disseminating and Studinger the Heritage of Gas. "

Mercedes Arroyo Huguet University of Barcelona, "Domestic Accidents and Safety Improvements of Gas Infrastructure in the Middle 20th."

Mercedes Fernández-stops at the University of Manchester, "The Production and Consumption of Gas in Manchester (1854-2009)."

Florenti Moyano Jiménez de la Universidad Rovira i Virgili Fenosa and Gas Natural, "Common Channels to Introducing the Technology of Gas in Catalan Towns, During The 2nd Half of 19th Century."
