The Gas Natural Foundation, in collaboration with the Higher Institute of Management and Planning (ISGP), the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI), the Algerian National Institute for Productivity and Industrial Development (INPED), the Algerian National Institute of Commerce (INC) and the Continuing Education Institute (IDEC) of the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, held a seminar on 15 and 16 June on communication and leadership, aimed at a group of business people, economists, company directors and team managers.
The main aim of the seminar was to contribute to training and development in Algerian companies, providing the participants with practical experience, tools and models to improve communication, relationships, leadership and in general, their effectiveness as professionals.
Conduct of the seminar
The Director General of Algeria's ISGP, Mr. Mohamed Raked; the Director General of IDEC-Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Mr. Pau Verrié; and the Gas Natural Foundation's International Projects Co-ordinator, Mr. Manuel Beguer, inaugurated the seminar.
The event was also attended by the Director of the ISGP's Finance Department, Mr. Loucif Amirouche; the ISGP's Director of Studies and lecturer at INPED, Mr. Lazhar Kourde; and lecturer in Communications, Relationships and Leadership at IDEC-Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Mr. Raül Miralta.
During the seminar, Raül Miralta and Lazhar Kourde analysed in a number of talks the main aspects of communication in the company, and presented a people-management model that offered practical tools to managers for improving their communication and professional performance. The aim of this management model was to learn how to manage by results and to improve professional development, encouraging two-way communication between colleagues and identifying the necessary supportive behaviour.
They also detailed the keys to improving communication, analysing its obstacles, the different types of communication (one-way and two-way) and the importance of feedback, in addition to the content and form of communication.
The semonar, which were attended by around 80 people, closed with an exchange of experiences and a debate among participants which demonstrated the interest the issue has aroused in Algerian society.
The Gas Natural Foundation in Algeria
This was the second seminar that the Foundation had organised in Algiers, following sessions held last December on "Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and new business management tools".
The Gas Natural Foundation's main aim is to contribute to raising awareness and educating society about protecting the environment in the countries where GAS NATURAL operates, including projects which could be of interest to society in countries where it carries out its activities.
The Foundation also organises programmess, courses, conferences and workshops, and is committed to serving the community through the contribution of new ideas and knowledge. As well as Algeria, the Gas Natural Foundation is also active in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Morroco and Italy.
